I Grabbed Onto the Pull-Up Bar for Dear Life

The van’s rabbit-horn blew plumes of smoke into the air that widened and disappeared as they rose into the darkness. The concourse-lamps poked dots of flame into the wrathful sky; myopic views of the lamp with a aureola that spread shine on the mat upon which my plyometric hops stomped on each deplaning. I exited the [...]

I have a pull up bar and a stability ball, what exercises do you recommend for good abs?

So basically, like the question says, I have a stability ball and a pull up bar. What kind of a regimen would you recommend for the materials at hand? Also, are there any good websites with regimens for both?

you're cute :)

I recently acquired a installable pull-up bar, I have a question regarding the integrity.?

As aforementioned, I recently acquired a installable pull-up bar, the kind where you drill holes in the wall to install the mounts for the bar itself. The walls are sheetrock behind the usual plaster, with a stud every few inches. The capacity of the bar, according to the box, is 350 pounds. My question is this: Will the walls be able to suppport 150-300 pounds of stress from the mounts without tearing or other such deformities?

If the mounts are not solidly mounted to the bar, that is, if they are free to sag against the sheetrock, they may crush the plaster in the sheetrock and allow the bar to loosen.

I have one like that - the ends of the bar have rubber "crutch tips" that fit into round brackets that have a couple screw holes. Fortunately I'm under 200 lbs by a fair margin, so I'm nowhere near the max capacity and the brackets are still fairly solid, although they do show signs of "sagging" in the above described way.

You might investigate adding some thick sheetmetal backing between the brackets and the wall if your brackets are similar, or alternately, some 4" squares of 3/4" wood that will spread out the load and be less likely to "crush".

How to properly install a pull up bar to a door frame?

I've been trying to install a pull up bar into my door frame but I'm having trouble getting the screws into the frame. I've tried a power drill to make a hole but it wasn't really going through. Am I doing something wrong? Please help

use a masonary drill bit with a hammer drill. sounds like you have gone through the timber frame but have stopped at the block or brickwork. use large frame fixing screw that cut their own thread through the pilot hole

Is there a back and lat workout without a pull-up bar or large equipment?

I want to exercise my back and lats, but I don't have a pull-up bar or a big machine that works out your back. Does anyone know any back exercises that don't require these things?

All the back/lat workouts that I know of require a pullup bar, a machine or a straight bar. Now what you could do is buy a pullup bar that will fit in a doorway of your house or buy some weights and do some rows. Check out a used sporting goods store like Play it Again sports or ebay for the best prices.

What are some exercises that can be done on a pull-up bar?

I want to know what exercises can be done using a pull-up bar. What are some techniques that are used? What parts of the body can be worked? If there is a website with this imformation that would be great.

Thank you!
