What's the best cost-saving brand of adjustable dumbbells and bench for a mini home gym?

I plan to begin weight training at home and I'm looking to buy a set of adjustable dumbbells and an exercise bench which can be adjusted to recline for workout purposes. I came across a gym poster which showed a guy using adjustable square dumbbells and I wonder if those are better than the regular ones... in addition, I only want to purchase a single set of dumbbells and the various weight plates to fit into it alone. Is that possible? Any suggestions? Thanks.

You should go to the fitness store and consult the experts there because they would know better. Not hear of square dumbbells before, sorry.

Are adjustable dumbbells worth the money?

I'm looking into some adjustable weights. They seem like a good idea but seem a bit pricey. Has anyone had experience with adjustable dumbbells?

They do save space, but can be a pain if you need to switch weights a lot. I've heard good things about SelectTech. They are kind of pricey, but really convenient and easily adustable

I have a friend that has the 50lb version, with the stand. He loves them, and if you watch the sales a lot, you can sometimes get the stand for free($149 value).

cheapest place for adjustable dumbbells?

I want a set of dumbbells for my apartment. I just want 2 dumbbell threaded bars and enough plates to go up to around 75lbs per dumbbell. So what web site has the best, cheapest stuff. I'll use them often but quality isn't 2 big an issue. I want the cheapest. I want the kind of dumbbells that I can screw off/on separate weight plates, not the really expensive adjustable ones by bowflex. Any brands or websites would be great

Check out Powerblocks. They are great! I own a personal training company and they are easy to handle and I've found them to be safer than the Bowflex weights. Plus they run about $150 less than Bowflex, more durable, and made in the US. Check out either Fitness Resource or www.powerblocks.com.

To be honest, if you want something that goes up to that kind of weight, it's gonna be tough to find anything less than $300.

i bought adjustable dumbbells?

i bought these reebok adjustable dumbbells. I was wondering if there were any way to buy weights that were heavier but still fit on that particular dumbbell so i wouldnt have to buy a whole new set. Is there a way?

No, sorry, you cannot add weight to the adjustable dumbbells, that is as heavy as they get.
